Educational Volunteer

Educational volunteers will be utilized outside of the survivors’ regular school schedule. They will act as support roles for the girls who need supplemental help to stay on track with the individualized education plans they are receiving at the on-site University of Texas Charter School. Job Summary

Educational volunteers will be utilized outside of the survivors’ regular school schedule. They will act as support roles for the girls who need supplemental help to stay on track with the individualized education plans they are receiving at the on-site University of Texas Charter School. Math/science background preferred.

We are currently looking to fill the following educational volunteer roles:

  • Bi-weekly math tutor

  • Educators who can offer STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) courses during the charter school’s off weeks.

Location

All educational volunteer work will take place in Bastrop County

Hours

Math tutor: 3:00-4:00 bi-weekly.

STEM teacher: intermittent, in accordance with UT Charter School off weeks

Minimum Education Requirements:

High School Diploma

Please be aware of the following volunteer requirements:

  1. Commit to at least one hour a week of service for a minimum of six months

    • (please note for educational volunteers: hours will be assigned according to above job description)

  2. Submit a volunteer application to the Enrichment Program and Volunteer Manager at info@therefugedmst.org

  3. Engage in an in-person interview (30 min - 1 hour).

  4. Complete background check and FBI fingerprinting, plus drug screening and tuberculous testing.

  5. Attend one of the two available orientations (3 hours).

If the applicant meets the requirements to volunteer with The Refuge for DMST™, he or she will be assigned a volunteer time and position.

If working directly with the youth in our care, all volunteers must be a minimum of 21 years of age .
