See how Austin and West Elm came together to decorate the first girls' cottage at The Refuge Ranch.
In November 2017, West Elm held a unique awareness event in their Austin store.
There are 79,000 young adults and minors in Texas who have been sex trafficked, according to a University of Texas study, but few people know this fact.
So West Elm wrote 79,000 girls names on 79,000 Post-it Notes and hung them on the windows of their store at 5th Street and Lamar Boulevard.
Drawn in by all the Post-it Notes, and with some help from the media, the people came. They pulled names like Kiara, Maria and Brittany from the windows. They attached the Post-it Notes to couches, comforters, lamps and pillows – and purchased these items to bring comfort to the child sex trafficking survivors who would soon be recovering at The Refuge Ranch.
