CLINICAL DIRECTOR

LOCATION: The Refuge Ranch, Bastrop TX
START DATE: June 2018
APPLICATION DUE DATE: April 15, 2018

JOB SUMMARY

The Clinical Director must possess an LCSW and will provide management of clinical and administrative practices in behavioral health programming. Lead program to continually improve the level of client care. Establish and nurture community relations. As a member of the administrative team, and with support from the Executive Director and COS, develop new referral sources and agency programming. Must be a board approved Supervisor to provide clinical supervision.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.  These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required within this position.

Personnel Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain acceptable standards of professional practice through supervision, planning, evaluation, and study of developments and trends in the field of behavioral health.
  • Supervise designated therapeutic programs, and rendering clinicians, and participate in and contribute to the agency’s development of programs.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records including the ongoing management of the electronic health record system, and archived records.
  • Comply with all State and National Standards of Accreditation and Certification. Prepare for and participate in all reviews, audits and surveys of behavioral health
  • Manage personnel by recommending, through evaluation, data and observation, the assignment, promotion, demotion, probation and release of staff; to clarify and delegate responsibility and to support assigned staff.
  • Nurture existing and cultivate new referral sources.
  • Maintain timely and effective communication with all staff.
  • Plan and control staffing levels.
  • Develop and meet annual program budget and goals.
  • Chair and/or participate in committees, work groups and initiatives.
  • Monitor, develop and update behavioral health programming quality improvement practices.
  • Prepare internal and external reports for data analysis, funding purposes, and maintain adherence to funding requirements.
  • Serve as the agency’s Client Rights Officer.
  • Oversees all the therapeutic programs, equine, creative arts, music, etc.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.

Compliance Responsibilities

  • Stay compliant with the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors Code of Ethics
    • SUBCHAPTER C. CODE OF ETHICS
  • Track individual therapy hours and group hours
  • Track that goals are individualized for each girl
  • Ongoing training for therapist

Additional Responsibilities

  • Develop reports for management or board and participate in policy development and strategic planning;
  • Supervise interns; and therapist needing clinical hours
  • Ensures all activities within the Agency are conducted within the guidelines and regulation of Federal HIPAA requirements;

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Master’s degree in the mental health field, e.g. Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology. Has an active professional license as an LCSW to provide counseling services in the state of Texas. Has no history of disciplinary action by the candidate’s professional licensing board. Preferred Certifications in Trauma Informed Care, CBT, EMDR Therapy. If do not have certifications must be able to obtain.

 

MINIMUM SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • At least three years of experience supervising direct clinical services, including counseling and assessment (internship and practicum experiences may be credited toward this requirement for recently licensed professionals)
  • Experience providing individualized services to families and adolescents
  • Crisis management experience – demonstrates ability to assess needs, manage crisis, and when
  • appropriate, refer to internal or community mental health resources
  • Experience or training in the provision of services to survivors of complex trauma and/or survivors of trafficking
  • Ability and willingness to understand, incorporate, and practice new theoretical perspective
  • treatment strategies
  • Familiarity with developmental appropriateness and overall knowledge of child development
  • Experience or knowledge of providing treatment that is sensitive to diverse populations
  • Ability to gather, track, and report data; must be well organized
  • Ability to work independently

  • Comfortable using technology to complete daily tasks
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well within a team and provide services with an integrated approach

REQUIREMENTS:

Must have reliable transportation, valid Texas driver’s license, and valid vehicle insurance.

Position requires driving in personal vehicle and/or Agency vehicle to include freeways and highways to satellite offices, offsite meetings, and events as needed.

Must be able to work on a flexible schedule as needed to meet work, program, and project deadlines.

 

CONTACTS

Requires contact by telephone, written communication, and in-person with state agency personnel, foster families, families of foster parents, and reunification related agencies. 

 

EQUIPMENT USED

Desktop computer, laptop computer, telephone, calculator, fax machine, and/or copier.

 Laptop is provided.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is carried out in several settings, including office, homes, and various recreational settings.

Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required.  Mandatory attendance to team meetings once per week.  Travel anticipated between sites, home office, and event venues.
